Veggieman and the mammoth are polyurethane foam with twisted wire armatures. Both have hair from my dog, Cassie. The mammoth is only 2/3 haired and several shots are reversed to hide this. Veggieman's lips and hands are clay and I had no end of trouble with keeping the lips on the face and the finger wires inside the fingers.

The deer, dead one, saber tooth and bunny are all clay and all but the bunny have twisted wire armatures. It simply takes too long to make ball and socket armatures for a < 5 minute short. I was very pleased with the deer both the modeling and the animation. I used "Bambi" for reference footage.

I shot the entire project on a 1/4 sheet of plywood with removeable sets. I used an old Panasonic VHS consumer camera and Stop Motion Pro software to capture the images at 24 fps. All my projects are shot on 1's at 24 frames per second.

I used After Effects for wire (fish line) removal as well as the vulture shot. I learned that a background plate must be taken to insure a proper match. I also composited the shot where the mammoth turns his head to look back since the puppet was way too stiff.

I sat on the film for about 6 months before sending it out to a few festivals. It is also on iFilm where it is one of their least viewed films. Still, there is something about stop-motion that compels watching.
